  定语是来修饰名词或代词的，状语是来修饰动词，形容词，副词和整个句子的。如he is a tall boy. 这句中tall作定语修饰后面的名词he go to school on foot这句中. on foot作状语修饰谓语动词there is a book in the bag. in the bag作地点状语the boy standing at the door is my brother. standing at the door作定语修饰前面的名词I have something important to tell you. important作定语修饰前面的代词。

  状语是修饰整个句子的。因此翻译出来要放在句中 比如: he stays at home all the summer holiday. all the summer holiday 是句中的状语，翻译出来是： 整个暑假他都呆在家里。
